Overview

CoverKeep ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data when you use the CoverKeep app.

Information We Collect

We collect the following types of information:

Account information — your name, email address, and optional phone number when you create an account.
Product & warranty data — details you enter about products you own, including product name, brand, purchase date, warranty length, retailer, price, and any product images or receipts you upload.
Warranty claim information — issue descriptions and notes you enter when filing or tracking a warranty claim.
Device information — device type and operating system version, used for app compatibility and analytics.
Usage data — how you interact with the app, including features used, to help us improve the product.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

Provide and maintain the CoverKeep service
Send warranty expiry notifications you have enabled
Power AI-assisted product identification and claim guidance
Process subscription payments and manage your premium status
Improve the app based on usage patterns
Respond to customer support requests
Comply with legal obligations

Third-Party Services

CoverKeep uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:

Firebase (Google) — authentication, database storage, cloud functions, and file storage. Your data is stored securely on Google Cloud infrastructure.
OpenAI — AI-powered product identification and warranty claim assistance. Product descriptions and issue details you submit are sent to OpenAI for processing. OpenAI does not use this data to train their models under the current API terms.
RevenueCat — in-app subscription management. Payment processing is handled by Apple; RevenueCat manages subscription status only.
SendGrid (Twilio) — transactional email delivery for warranty expiry reminders.
Sentry — crash and error reporting to help us identify and fix app issues.
Expo / EAS — app build and update delivery infrastructure.

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in Firebase Firestore, hosted on Google Cloud servers. We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted data transmission (HTTPS/TLS) and authentication token verification on every request.

Product images and receipts you upload are stored in Firebase Storage with access restricted to your account only.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, all your personal data, product information, and claim history is permanently deleted from our systems within 30 days. You can request deletion at any time from the Settings screen.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

Access your personal data (all your data is visible in the app)
Correct inaccurate data (edit your profile in Settings)
Delete your account and all associated data (Settings → Delete Account)
Opt out of non-essential notifications (Settings → Notifications)
Request a copy of your data by contacting us at privacy@coverkeep.app

Children's Privacy

CoverKeep is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, through an in-app notification.
